The Detroit Lions have had tough seasons in the past, but the team feels different this season. With a great head coach, skilled players, and a strong team spirit, the Lions want to make a run for the Superbowl.
The Lions have shown to have the best offense in the league. Quarterback Jared Goff leads the way with veteran experience and high IQ. He has already played in a Super Bowl, so Goff knows what it takes. Wide Receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown is a stud, making huge plays when needed. Running backs Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery are arguably the best 1-2 punch in the league and are a scary duo in the backfield. Of course, all of this wouldn’t be possible without an elite offensive line, and that’s truly what the Lions have, led by Penei Sewell.
Detroit’s defense doesn’t get a lot of attention compared to the offense, but it has shown glimpses from time to time of being elite. Defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn has built a group of young, talented guys who are ready to do whatever it takes for this team to be successful. Aidan Hutchinson, a star defensive end for the Lions, was always causing some sort of problem, making it hard for the opposing team to generate offense before his season-ending injury. The Lions suffered a huge loss with the injury of Hutchinson but the guys behind him have stepped up and done a great job.
Fourth-year head coach Dan Campbell is the heart and soul of the franchise. Campbell is a tough, passionate coach who has revived the Lions from their rough years. Being a former player of the Lions, Campbell knows what this city has been through and will do whatever is needed to bring a title to Detroit, which has never been done before. Campbell has his guys fighting for the win every week and it has paid off with a 12-1 record so far this season.
The Lions have a lot of momentum going into the playoffs, having won the last 11 games. After many years of tough results, they have turned the ship around and proven they can compete with the best. The team has scored over 40 points four times this season, which is a league-high, and they have reached the 50-point mark twice.
A great football team can only come with an even better fan base, and that’s the case for Detroit. Their fans have shown to be some of the most loyal in the NFL, showing up loud and proud to each game. These fans have waited a long time for a Super Bowl, and having the possibility of winning one this season would be monumental to the city and its fan base.
The Detroit Lions have everything they need to win it all. With a unique offense, strong defense, and smart coaching this team believes it can get it done. This could be the year that Detroit finally celebrates a championship at last.
