Masconomet High School’s National Honor Society (NHS) recently hosted an exciting Trivia night and clothes drive, which was a huge success.
This event occurred Wednesday, March 19, in Masco’s small cafe and was a Jeopardy-style game. Several teams that consisted of up to five students per team competed head-to-head in an exciting game. This competition was made to test the participant’s knowledge of various topics, including pop culture, rooms in Masco, and math/history-based questions. The team members, juniors and seniors who are part of the honors society, displayed amazing teamwork and impressive knowledge as they fought to be the winning team.
“Trivia Night is a chance for NHS students and their friends to come together, battle it out for prizes, and support a great cause,” said advisor Skylar Clark.” This year’s event wasn’t just about proving who knows the most random facts—it also included a charitable component to give back to the community.”
Using the Trivia Night as a way to incorporate a clothing drive allowed students to donate gently used clothing for a good cause. The clothes collected during the event will be distributed to local families in need and help people in the community who may be struggling. This addition to the event not only made it fun, but it also created a meaningful way to give back to your community. “It’s the perfect way to support a great cause while taking a much-needed break from school stress,” said Clark.
The combination of trivia and charity made the night both entertaining and impactful. Students not only had the chance to use their knowledge and teamwork, but they also contributed to a meaningful cause. The friendly competition kept everyone excited while the clothing drive added a sense of purpose beyond just winning. This combination of competition and giving back to the community created an atmosphere where students could enjoy themselves while making a difference.
“The energy was great, everyone was getting so competitive. My group was in the lead, but we lost it due to some hard questions. All the groups were having an awesome time,” said junior participant Evie Emig.
The inning team, team Quizzards, consisted of five seniors: Avery Davis, Mariko Prazar, Chloe Lodewick, Amelia Sorpol, and Sophia Donnellan. This team was able to secure a $20 Starbucks gift card through team collaboration and an outstanding amount of knowledge on many different topics such as recalling the exact year Beyoncé dropped her first album to knowing the most populated m-block room in 2022.
“I would say we won because we had good teamwork and trusted each other’s answers,” said Lodewick.
Masco’s Trivia Night and clothing drive was a fantastic success and brought students together for a night of fun, friendly competition, and community support.
