MASCO CHIEFTANS 6 – GLOUCESTER FISHERMEN 0

Under the lights of Bunker Hill Stadium, the Chieftains put on a spectacular performance against Gloucester, while simultaneously supporting their senior teammates.
The girls had a successful season so far, going into their game against Gloucester with a record of five wins and two losses. Masco was ready for another win, and senior captain Violet Malinowski had high hopes that this game would bring it.
“I think we should be fine. We should get the win,” said Malinowski. “If we just show up and play hard, then we’ll be fine.”
Before the game, each senior was presented with a bouquet of flowers by a youth player before being joined by their family for a photo.

After the singing of the national anthem, it was game time. From the first whistle, the Chieftains came out guns ablazing. Within four minutes, Malinowski scored the first goal of the match. Gloucester would not be able to match the intensity of its opponent.
At minute nine, junior Maggie Blosser assisted senior captain Cate Schaffer in scoring the game’s second goal. After fifteen minutes, Masco put four in against the Fishermen, with Malinowski and Blosser scoring the two subsequent goals.
The Chieftains took brief break from scoring until the 28th minute, where freshman Ella Cammarata gave Masco its fifth goal. With five minutes remaining in the half, senior Maggie Llewellyn put in the game’s final goal, bringing the score to 6-0.
Senior goalkeeper Maclean Hodges maintained a complete shutout throughout the game. At halftime, the entire Masco Girls’ Soccer program hosted Youth Night celebrations for the dozens of future players in attendance, encouraging them to play in three small-sided soccer games.
“Over 50 future Masco Girls Soccer players joined all 66 current Masco players for games during halftime,” said Coach Allison Lecesse. “It was a great night!”

Adorning the bleachers were posters created by the underclassmen on the team. Designed to celebrate their senior teammates, each poster was specially fitted with custom designs and photos to reflect the featured player.
“We appreciate all of the people who came out to support the seniors and the program,” said Shaffer. “Hearing all of the cheers from the youth players and getting to pass with them at halftime was especially heartwarming and nostalgic for me because I have played soccer since I was six years old and I remember being their age. They are the future of our program.”
