While it is march it still is quite chilly, The best way in my opinion to enjoy some snow and some hot cocoa is to turn on a nice movie sit back, relax, and enjoy. Here are three of my favorite movies to watch as the snow falls.
Home Alone 2: Lost in New York (1992) is such a great wintertime movie, and in my opinion, the sequel is better than the first. It perfectly captures the cheerfulness but also the chaos of the holiday season, being set in New York City during Christmas music is set into the film at the perfect time to represent the Christmas spirit. But looking like a Christmas movie isn’t all, there are very action-packed scenes as young Kevin McCallister attempts to stop the sticky bandits from robbing a store just before Christmas. Many moments of comedic relief and many iconic locations such as the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree and the Plaza Hotel add to the Christmas feel.
Elf (2003) is the embodiment of all good things in the wintertime, perfectly capturing the joy and magic of the holiday season. The movie comes with a funny and heartwarming story of Buddy, a human raised by elves, showing the important values of kindness, family, and belief in the Christmas spirit. This movie is also set in New York, which gives it that great Christmas feel with my favorite part of the movie being the massive snowball fight in Central Park. The decorations all around New York and the festive soundtrack playing throughout the hilarious Will Ferrell performance just make it all so much better.
Ice Age (2002) As the title indicates, Ice Age fits the winter feel taking place in a snowy and ice terrain. The movie shows the journey of a wooly mammoth, a sloth, and a saber-toothed tiger trying to work together to return a baby to his father. In my opinion, this is the funniest movie on this list, with the constant argument between the animals making for some very funny moments in the film. Personally, the first time I remember watching this movie was during the winter with my family and I believe that its many themes of teamwork, dedication, and adventure makes it a great winter watch.
