The Masconomet baseball team keeps rolling to 3-0 as they defeat the Ipswitch Tigers, 3-0. It was the first bump day of the year for sophomore Drew Gustafson and he didn’t disappoint, pitching six scoreless innings with three strikeouts and only giving up two hits. Gustafson not only provided on the mound but also went one for three at the plate with a big hit for the Chieftains.
The bats didn’t get going much for either team, but junior first baseman (typically third basemen) Chris Porfido got Masco around the bases going two for three at the plate and batted in two runners (RBIs).
Senior shortstop and reliever Gabe Fales had a fantastic game as well hitting two for three and scoring a run. In the last inning, Fales came in from the bullpen to close the game and he did exactly that, getting the three outs Masco needed to stay undefeated.
The Chieftains take on Marblehead next, looking to win this great Northeast Conference (NEC) game.
