The Chieftains boys’ lacrosse team won their third straight game against the Peabody Tanners this past Saturday, 11-5. Everything was clicking for the Chieftains offensively and defensively as they stayed undefeated in the Northeast Conference (NEC). The player of the game was junior midfielder Will Carey. Carey had one of the many goals for the Chieftains, and included four assists to go with it, impacting nearly half of Masco’s goals and providing his teammates with elite opportunities.
Senior captain Owen McNally, junior attackmen John Miga, and sophomore attackman Colten Russo all stay hot, as they’ve scored in each of the four games this season and look to keep the streak going. McNally posted two goals to go along with two assists and Miga matched McNally with two goals of his own. Sophomore midfielder Miles Mirrault also had a great game, scoring his first two goals of the season for the Chieftains.
Masco’s two goalies, sophomore Jack Wheadon and senior Tyller Goncalves, each played a fantastic half, only letting up 5 goals on a combined 11 shots on the net. The defense has to be credited as well, as they had an excellent performance, only allowing the hard-nosed Tanners to rip 11 shots on the net.
The Chieftains have a tough matchup next as they look to get the out-of-league win versus Lexington.
