The Chieftains girls’ soccer team soundly defeated the Peabody Tanners last Friday, 6-0, and improved to 2-0.
Right from the start of the game, Masco set the tone and made it known early that they were the better team. The Chieftains’ forwards feasted in this game as junior Violet Malinowski scored a goal, sophomore Maggie Blosser put in two goals and star senior captain Amanda Schneider had a hat trick with three goals. With 18 minutes to go in the first half, Masco was already up 5-0.
The Chieftains’ offense looked absolutely explosive with endless motors and lots of depth. There seem to be no weaknesses to this team as the defense also had a stellar performance, barely letting Peabody have any time on Masco’s side of the field. Senior captains Tegan Skulley, Riley Bovardi, and Nicole Schnieder all played fantastic defensively proving it’ll be extremely difficult to score on this team this season.
Chieftains sophomore goalie Evy Mills was on fire, not letting in a single goal and deflecting every shot. This is Mills’s first year starting in goal for the varsity team and through the first two games, you couldn’t ask for a much better start only allowing in two goals.
Masco has been dominant for the last few years and that doesn’t seem to be stopping anytime soon. The Chieftains look to stay undefeated and pick up another win against their next opponent, Saugus.
