Jack Fielder is a star senior captain currently playing for the Chieftain boys’ soccer team. Fiedler has been their best player all season and currently leads the team in goals with 16 before this week which is tied for second in the North Shore via Salem News.
Fiedler has been a key leader for this team and helped lead them to an impressive 12-2-2 record which leaves them ranked 7th in Division two via MIAA rankings.
“The season has been enjoyable so far. There have been a few ups and downs along the way, but we have picked up some quality wins against tough competition,” said Fiedler. “A key to our success this season is that everyone seems to have a lot of fun, both on and off the field.”
Fiedler has been a major contributor on varsity for the last three years and has especially excelled these past two.
“In my four years in the program, and three on varsity, my favorite memory is definitely getting mohawks each year with the entire team,” he said. “It is something that everyone looks forward to the entire season, and gets the boys excited for playoffs.”
Not only has Fielder been a fantastic player but more importantly, a great teammate. He’s formed great connections with his co-captains and has been a role model to all underclassmen. “This team is just so fun,” he said. “It’s an amazing group of guys.”
Fielder is continuing his athletic career at the collegiate level, where he will be playing Division One soccer for Holy Cross next year. Fiedler has had this desire for a long time now and is super excited to finally carry out his goal.
“The recruiting process was fun. Club soccer helped greatly with exposure through showcases and film. I got into contact with the coaches at Holy Cross in the summer after my junior year. After talking with them following nationals in San Diego, and meeting with them on campus, I knew it was a perfect fit for me,” said Fiedler. “Soccer at the Division I level is definitely a major time commitment, but it is something that I love to do, and I am excited to continue it at the collegiate level.”
Fiedler’s high school career is anything but wrapped up yet. He leads a strong team into battle for the Division Two state playoffs and some of the hardest challenges are still yet to come in late October and early November as the Chieftains make their playoff push.
