The Chieftains picked up their third straight win over Whittier in a pitching master class Monday, 4-0.
Freshman pitcher Zack Ward has been a fantastic addition to the pitching group and went scoreless through all seven innings only giving up five hits.
To aid their pitcher, Masco got the bats going early when junior captain and first baseman Drew Gustafson ripped a double and eventually scored for Masco. The NEC All-Conference pitcher has been one of Masco’s top sluggers this season.
Junior captain Cal Weidman and sophomore outfield Davis DeLuties led the charge for the Chieftains at the plate. Weidman went two for five with an RBI and scored two, while DeLuties went two for three with a walk.
Junior Aidan Brown was speedy around the bags, sneaking two stolen bases, and sophomore Cruz Zizza went one for two with an RBI.
Now the Chieftains look on to a big NEC matchup today Danvers at home at 4:15, hoping to extend the winning streak to four games.
