The Model United Nations club gathered for their final meeting of the 2024-2025 school year. With pizza, snacks, and plenty of spirited discussion, the club closed out another successful season of studious debates and student leadership.
As club members grabbed slices of pizza, rising leaders Landen Boutilier, Charlotte Guido, and Will Allen took a moment to share exciting details about an upcoming mini Model UN conference to be held at Masco next year. The event promises to give club members a chance to experience the administrative side of Model UN conferences.
After announcements, the meeting shifted gears into a final light-hearted activity known as a “FunMUN”. Unlike the more serious simulations held throughout the year, FunMUNs are humorous mock debates with intentionally bizarre or pop culture-based scenarios.
This time, delegates represented a fictional celebrity neighborhood debating the controversial installation of Kanye West’s billboard. Roles ranged from world leaders to pop culture icons, creating a unique blend of satire and diplomacy.
Sophomore Oliver Deeks, who portrayed French President Emmanuel Macron, added his own flair to the discussion.
“I got to say ‘oui oui’. I got really into my character, and gave it my all,” said Deeks.
The session ended with a dance battle showdown between Melania Trump, Gordon Ramsey, and Kanye West. In the end, Melania was declared the winner and given full control over the neighborhood.
Melania Trump, expertly played by junior Bryn Bucher, was not surprised by this victory.
“I feel like it was destiny. I knew I was special at birth, and this moment secured that for me,” Bucher said.
As the meeting ended, members shared fond memories from the year and expressed excitement for what’s to come next year. With growing interest and strong leadership on the horizon, the Model UN club is already looking forward to another year of engaging debate and solving global issues.
