As someone who has been with Crumbl Cookies since they opened, I’ve noticed their cookie selection has been declining. Every week, Crumbl comes out with a new cookie selection along with a menu of the same constant cookies.
Crumbl, in its prime, would come out with intricate flavors that would go along with the trends going on in the media. Though they still do that today, their effort doesn’t seem to be as present as it used to be. However, I do like their addition of the mini cookies in addition to the regular-sized ones.
Specifically, the week of February 26 was a particularly bad week. The flavors consisted of pink velvet cake cookie, vanilla sheet cake, mallow sandwich ft. Oreo, and lemon glaze. In my opinion, these flavors seem very basic and not something I would run.
Personally, I prefer to get the mini cookies, so I got the snickerdoodle, pink velvet cake, vanilla sheet cake, brownie batter, and mallow sandwich ft. Oreo flavored cookies. Both the snickerdoodle and the brownie batter are from the Weekly Staples menu.
The first cookie we tried was the pink velvet cake, and I rated it an overall nine out of ten, being the best one out of the bunch. The cookie consisted of a pink colored cake batter cookie topped with vanilla cream cheese frosting and pink cake crumbles. This wasn’t too sweet, and it had the perfect amount of toppings, where I didn’t feel overwhelmed. There really wasn’t a reason for this cookie not to be a ten out of ten, other than the fact that I have had better.
Secondly, we had the vanilla sheet cake cookie. There is no point in calling this “cookie” a cookie because it was literally just a square of cake. This “cookie” was a soft golden vanilla cake topped with rich fudge frosting and finished with chocolate sprinkles. Overall, I thought the taste was amazing. I only gave it a seven out of ten because it was just a traditional piece of Betty Crocker cake.
Then off the Weekly Staples menu, we got the snickerdoodle and brownie batter cookies. I am a sucker for a good snickerdoodle cookie, so I honestly have nothing bad to say about it. It was the perfect squishy but crispy consistency and overall a great staple. I’m not a huge fan of chocolate, but I can say the brownie batter cookie is good. It’s a rich, gooey chocolate cookie topped with raw-style brownie batter and semi-sweet chocolate chips. Overall, both of these cookies get eight out of ten.
Lastly was the Mallow Sandwich Cookie featuring OreoREO. This was a chilled sandwich cookie consisting of two soft, dark chocolate Oreo-based cookies filled with a thick, fluffy marshmallow-based cream and brownie pieces. I wasn’t a huge fan of this cookie. To me, the frosting tasted weird, and it didn’t work well with the cookies. I would rate this cookie a four out of ten.
Overall, while Crumbl Cookies still offers some enjoyable flavors and new options like mini cookies, the creativity and excitement of their weekly menu seem to have declined, making some weeks feel more basic and less appealing than before.
