With the end of high school right on the horizon, the Class of 2026 is looking forward to prom on Wednesday, May 20.
This year, the class is preparing for a festive spring-themed event at the Danversport Yacht Club.
“We’re going more for like spring, summer, wildflowers, just making it a little bit broader,” said class advisor Madison Marc-Aurele.
For senior prom, the class advisors are trying to persuade classmates to stay longer than they would normally.
“We are trying to get people to stay longer this year. Hopefully until 10, but that probably isn’t realistic…nine would be better to at least maximize the space,” said class president Lucas Magnifico.
As a part of the prom, there will be various activities for students.
“We have the DJ and a photo booth. There’s a balcony where people can go, the big dance floor, and a surprise,” said Student Advisory Board Representative Genevieve Clapp.
This “surprise” will be an anticipated new aspect of the typical prom. However, students can also expect a more typical food buffet.
“Danversport has a good variety of food. They provide desserts, soda, water, everything’s included, ” said Marc-Aurele.
As a group decision, the senior class opted not to have a bus for transportation.
“We had a few parents reach out about offering transportation for proms. It was a thing of the past. We did a survey of families and students, and the majority were not in favor of it right now,” said Marc-Aurele. “I think it’s something we’ll look at in the future; it’s just not going to work out this year.”
As the seniors wind down the school year, prom will be one of the last events for them, and it is guaranteed to be one of the most memorable.
