In their second game of the year, the Masconomet field hockey team defeated the Gloucester Fishermen in a battle, 3-2.
After a stellar defensive performance in the first half, the Chieftains led 1-0 heading into the break thanks to an awesome snipe from star sophomore Mia Marques. Junior captain Savannah Stevens was the anchor of that defense making sure Gloucester couldn’t get anything going on offense. In the second half, senior captain Mia Juliano stole the show, putting in two goals of her own, giving Masco a prominent 3-0 lead. Sophomore goalie Sabrina Cafarelli held down the fort for the Chieftains, only giving up two goals to a solid Gloucester team.
Starting the year 1-1 and looking to be a Northeast Conference powerhouse, Masco hopes to use this momentum going into their next game at home against Swampscott.
