Last Tuesday, the Masco Chieftains shut out Lynnfield, handing them their first loss of the season.
This was a defensive battle throughout most of the game with neither team being able to do much on offense.
That is until senior captain Jack Fiedler sniped the net with his left foot from 12 yards out on a pass from senior Elias Cantor.
Masco would continue to lead 1-0 throughout the remainder of the first half, going into halftime confident and fired up.
This was a well-anticipated matchup with Masco having only one loss and Lynnfield being undefeated.
Masco’s depth and versatility off the bench gave them a clear advantage with guys like senior Connor Buser and Quinn Lodewick giving the Chieftains fantastic minutes and playing crucial roles in winning this game.
Deep into the second half, Fielder struck again, nailing in an 18-yarder on his right foot from a senior captain Gabe Franciosa feed putting Masco up 2-0.
Stellar defense from the three amigos, senior captain Aidan Colleran, and juniors Nate Mroczek and John Green making goalie Gabriele Russo’s life a whole lot easier.
Russo was fantastic in net saving anything that came his way and was a major reason the Chieftains got their second clean sheet (shutout) of the year.
The Chieftains have a tough battle tomorrow against a good Marblehead team which will help sniff out the true top dog in the Northeast Conference.
