The Chieftains narrowly defeated the Big Blue, 1-0, on this past rainy Columbus Day.
After a slow start for both teams, Masco’s leading goal scorer, senior captain Jack Fielder, did what he does best and launched one by the goalie off his right foot about 18 yards out from a beautiful pass courtesy of senior captain Gabe Franciosa.
This put Masco up 1-0 with a little under halfway to go in the first half, and that is the score each team would end with going into the locker room.
Head coach Jared Scarpaci couldn’t have asked for much more out of his defensemen. Senior captain Aidan Colleran set the tone with senior Jack Savitsky and juniors Nate Mroczek and John Green helping secure that back line from a persistent Swampscott offense.
Masco goalie Gabriele Russo continues to shine in net for the Chieftains picking up another clean sheet by pitching a shutout yet again.
Masco improves to an impressive record of 12-2-2 and is looking to win out for an ideal opportunity to better their playoff spot, hopefully getting a few home games.
Masco finishes up their regular season home games against an inferior Mystic Valley (3-10) team on October 21 at four.
