FRESHMEN ROLLING THE DICE

A large “Monopoly” sign greeted visitors as the freshman path unfolded into scattered piles of money and an oversized game board.

“We’re hanging up pieces of money and have different properties along every door,” said freshman Connor Cusack.

Not only was their design bold and eye-catching, but the students themselves had infectious confidence in their hard work.

“We raised more money than any freshman class ever has. We have more capabilities than anyone else. We’re winning,” said Cusack.

Freshman Ady Ventura agreed, eager to see her diligence pay off.

“I think we’ll do great honestly. We’re putting so much effort in, so hopefully it turns out well,” said Ventura.

For students like Ventura, the experience wasn’t just about the decorating, it helped them connect with others, too.

“I like talking to people and it’s been really funny. It’s a fun environment,” she said.

The final product was vibrant and full of energy; with a recreation of the iconic Monopoly jail, and enlarged property cards hanging along the classroom doors, the hallway felt like a true version of the famous game. Being the very first time they took part in hall decorating, the freshmen’s high spirits proved they were more than ready to flourish in the competition.
