SENIORS’ SWEET PATH

On the senior side of the hallway, color was prominent at every turn. The walls were lined with bright candies, while lively decorations hung from the ceilings to create a fantastical atmosphere.

“Our theme for this year is Candyland, and we’re using lots of colorful paper, markers, and decorations to make candy. We’re making some of the characters, we have gummy bears,” said senior Avery Davis.

The seniors were especially determined to make this year stand out. Despite past results, the energy and motivation they had this year were unlike all years prior.

“Honestly, all the other grades are looking really good. In the past three years, we’ve gotten third or fourth, so I don’t really know how we’ll [place], but we’re feeling hopeful this year because it’s our senior year,” said senior Maggie Bruker.

Davis concurred with Bruker, adamantly stating that they were more focused than ever on securing a top spot.

“We’re fully committed this year, the senior slump has not affected us,” she said.

This persistence seemed to have paid off as their Candyland-inspired design featured handmade candy props, colorful pathways, a decorative gingerbread house, and an array of giant candy canes, lollipops, and gummy bears that made the hallway feel like a real-life arrangement of the board game.
